Is there a difference between the process of
doing a oil change the in a car with synthetic
oil and one with the conventional type of
motor oil?

No, the procedure is exactly the same. And upgrading to synthetic oil is a smart move and costs only $10 more per change IF you are doing it yourself. Synthetic will not sludge up like conventional oil and your car will thank you in the long run.
