What is the best way to file a report against a disreputable car dealer in Grand Rapids Michigan - one that prospective buyers will see when checking a business's reputation? We are filing a complaint with the state agency already.

Question type: General

We recently purchased a car from Garage Kept Motors  in Grand Rapids and had it shipped to Texas.  The condition of the car was grossly misstated and requires major work to even be drivable. The car only had less than 80,000 miles but the transmission needs to be completely rebuilt and the alternator has to be replaces. The mechanic here says that is just the start of issues and that there appear to be many issues.

Check into Michigan's lemon laws: http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-127-1585_1611-23885--,00.html

If you purchased the car through CarGurus, I'm sure they like to hear about this shady dealer. If you did, you will get an e-mail that will allow you to leave feedback on a Dealer within 7 days approx. Contact CarGurus at: http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/enterFeedback.action

I would leave a google review and or yelp review since that would be the primary area for most people local to the dealership would search for info on this dealer. Sorry to hear about your unforunate purchase issues and I hope you get them worked out quickly.

Also file a complaint to your state A.G. as well as Texas state A.G. If the A.Gs are Democrat, you will have a chance. I am in OH. bought a Lexus from PA with no key and other things, our republican A.G was worthless. But with help of P.A Attorney G. I got little bit money back. I bought through EBay(another fraudulent co.), and promised not to go again to ebay ever and kept my promise for last 31/2 years. Also file complaint to BBB of both states you will not get anything because they represent the Business, but they might keep the complaint in their Website.

Arunr76 is right, a state's AG can be some help. Ebay, BBB are borderline scam companies, they are worthless in going after fraudsters. Yelp is another borderline scam, they will side with the scam business every time, if the scam business pays them off. I'd make sure to document every cent spent on repair costs and look into the state's lemon laws. You might be able to return the car for a refund, but you'll still be out the transport fees.
