Is a blown head gasket expensive to repair?

My 2007 Saturn Aura might have a
blown head gasket. Is that something
that is expensive to fix?

Yes it is expensive to repair. What makes you think it is blown head gasket? It would require that you have to take off the throttle body injection unit in order to access the head(s) after you get through to the intake manifold. That is usually what goes foul on GM motors from that era. It is usually the intake manifold gasket that will fail.

Roberta, a head gasket repair requires removal of the entire top of the engine. Could cost up to $1000+ depending on where you get it done. A competent do it your-selfer could do it for much less. It will require at least the following, head gasket, head bolts (if they are torque to yield), cam cover gasket, intake gaskets and engine coolant.
