Lost gear shifter flops around

Asked by Smilehappy Aug 29, 2016 at 06:16 PM

Question type: General

I have 99 Saturn SW SL. 155.000 miles.
Driving 55 I slowed to 45 and shifted out of
5th gear when the shifter went floppy it
made no unusual noise prior and I slowed to
a stop. Could this be linkage. Any
suggestions helpful.

I fixed it. There is a bushing about the size of a nickel that connects the handle to the shift cable. $25 part and some time. Thank God for Google. You tube videos are very helpful.
