Everyone I know that has a Volkswagen, has had trouble with it within a year. Why is that?

They're unlucky... Many will tell you that a VW will last forever and others will curse them into the ground... Out of curiosity what year/model and what troubles popped up.

I have had a VW Beetle GLS with the turbo since 2005 and I have not had a problem yet with it. It is by far one of the best cars I have owned.
