ill make the point simple! no turbo no supercharger and still ( in the case of a vti ) 160bhp from a 1.6 engine. most companys struggle to get that from a 2ltr and make it reliable. plus the powerband vtec aswel

honda wasnt named car of the yearfor two consecutive years for lots of reasons...first of all, i gotta agree with Simon...when it comes to power, hondas (civic specifically) have more than enough for a naturally aspirated engine...second, the fuel economy is really great...my car is old-ass but it still runs 10 kilometers or more with a single liter...not bad...and finally, it's got this unique look that even though you leave it bone stock, it's got some charm in it and you cant get enough of it...well, in my case anyway... and i've handled toyotas before...sure they're user-friendly but i felt like i wasnt getting the satisfaction i wanted and i had a lot of problems with my previos toyotas...
very simple.. but can be made very complex drive something with vtec like a gsr or new rsx type s and tell me the gearing doesnt make u fall in love with the car.. the cars are made to either putt around town getting 25-30 miles to a gallon to floorin it and tryin to shift perfect to keep that baby in vtec,
first off. yea they r very reliable and can take a hell of a beating, as long as you take care of it. second, you got a well rounded car. very light, good handling, performance and tunability. and thats for the mostly stock ones. but then you can get damned near anything you could possibly want for any of them. escpecially civics. you put a turbo kit. computerchip, lowering kit, and a racing clutch in one and itll beatg damed near nething out there
ummm shain no offence but i doubt they will beat very little of the cars that are tuners around me. like audi tt with aftermarket turbos chipped lowered 2.5inches,gti 12v turboed pushin a lil over 400hp, and theres more... but i was just wondering y ppl think they r fast? the vtechs r quick but there arnt many around and those that are where tuned so they run lik shit!
Not many Vtecs around? oh well lets let that one slide.. for starters, the money spent buying the audi TT then all that work, your civic or integra etc.. can go alot faster. Honda's are good all around cars, all other points have been made by others above, but they are built well!
You cant compare european cars to japanese cars. The price difference is a result of many other things put into the car than what's in it performance wise. But even so, you are paying for very good stock performance components. Granted that the price difference would result in a ton of aftermarket parts put into the civic, but you cant get both performance and luxury in a civic. I love tuners hardcore, but the safety features of a BMW M3 saved my pal's life while we were out street racing. He was out in a coma for a couple of months but he lived. So yeah, its not a comparison that can be made. Its simply what you're paying for.

vtec engines are so VERSATILE you can do anything with it...either turbocharged, boost, naturally aspirated, whatever...they have a wide range of engine types especially the k series...drop in a turbo with it and i believe you would get 300 plus horses out...and the greatest advantage is the fuel economy of both stock and tuned ones...and yeah there arent too many hondas around coz pwople always want the next best thing when it comes to speed,JUST THAT and nothing more...get in a VW and race a honda on a TECHNICAL circuit and you will know...but overall i think japanese cars e.g. hondas are way better not just with speed but driveability, fuel economy, versatility and hell the looks!
yea you cant really compare an audi and a civic. they both might be tuners but are completely. for one a base civic start @ what.... around 12500 or so and an audi like that one around 30000 or better? i mean yea no comparison. but as far as a bugdet build, the money you put into an audi to boost everything you could do the same to like three hondas. and you cant beat the reliability of a honda. it isnt nothing for them to get 35-40 mpg when they have over 200000miles on em.
yea idk im a big fan of the euro look myself antho i do like mitzu evox and the nissan 370GTR? i think thats what it is. and i like 04-06 or 07 wrx sti whichever the last year for the sedan was, u say 12500 for civic but i baught my VR for 13500 wit 34k on it and its all leather, stock pushes 174+hp, heated seats and will still throw u back in the seat. idk about the vtech but the regular civic the gearing pisses me off cause first gear seems pointless u hav to shift b4 u get 30 ft down the road, this was a 05 i drove. so mayb the newer ones r better but hav no idea.
first gears meant to get u rolling thats prolly the worst gear to rip through even ifur jus cruisin.. hondas dont have much torque u cant make 1 gear as long as a porshce say 0-60 in first gear. and my gsr is pretty stock and i bett u it pulls harder then any vr6, any year even the corrado if ur tryin to compare vw to honda. my car has 2 less cylinders keep in mind.
and btw k series motors sound and are out of this world. i drove a rsx type s once with few mods and its amazin. not the fastest car but does everything so well while niot even tryin

STICK THIS in your brains y'all!!! A CIVIC tuned is WAY CHEAPER than an audi!!! pretty much the same with everything but HELL!!! the price and the versatility says it all! so we love Hondas and we own one! what the hell!!! told ya, rece a Honda on a technical track AND YOU WILL KNOW WHAT WE HONDA LOVERS/OWNERS ARE TALKING ABOUT!!!
Joseph Anthony answered 15 years ago
i bet i can beat an AUDI and aVW on a tech track...ive got a b15 with stage 2 boost and downpipe exhaust, custom OEM AT tranny, drag suspension, 165/R15 Bridgestone Potenza tires, carbon-fiber panels (lightweight ones), powerclutch and sport brakes for 2nd gen (SiR)!!! hell yeah it can smoke a pure SiR 2.0! what more of a VW!? and hell i got the best team y'all can find! so dont go questioning our Hondas coz we aint dubbed car of the year for 2 consecutive years for nothing!

i have a 96 AT...yeah the 1st 2 gears take longer to respond but hey, it means more power before shifting...its actually a good thing "for me" on longer distance when driving...when you reach 3rd and full, it kicks and especially when its boosted, pulls you up to 6000rpm at most! i have a custom 5AT with overdrive for my EK3 4AT and i bet you it isnt bad at all! plus,i have an advantage when it comes to cornering coz i have lower suspension up front (an inch lower than stock and a half inch on rear) and the newer tires grip better on sharp turns while the rear braces and larger tires (with 165/55) support the weight while turning and on straight lines...boost and cold air intake also serves me better coz during lower gear shifts when catching up, the large ram and intake catches more air and it means max power (i have mine close to 220bhp) before 5th and overdirve (max torque)...i tested my ride on the dyno and the track and it led about 196-210kph at about 13.8 second! not bad for an import tuner! ever heard of the 10-second Honda civic with the twin turbo Formula-3 block? (NHRA)

one more thing, BRITISH/GERMAN cars have a great setback...FUEL ECNOMY when it comes to max power...i can have a full tank and race them all day (endurane) without having to stop for a refill! sure those cars have such power but the engine would be so hungry that they would stop for a refill in the middle of the dayl...
Noone's saying anything against honda's. Just saying that euro's arent bad at all. Its not that their engines are fuel hungry, its that the cars are on the heavier end and that's what raises the fuel consumption. My sibling used to own an Accord Euro R and I loved it. But just sometimes you would like to drive a car that could not only go fast, but memorise and adjust the seat and wheel according to preferences for different drivers, keep your coffee warm, switch radio stations with buttons on the steering wheel, shifts automatically when you're eating fries, shifts manually when you're on the track and cosies your girl to sleep even with the v10 roaring behind. Like I said, a comparison cannot be made. They are built for different people. I love both a raw track machine and a luxury sports car, and I own both and respect people who like either. And to answer your question Grant, its cuz hondas are badass. I've moved to the states for school and I really miss the JDM sedan type R's and euro R's and S's at the street races in asia. They look and sound nasty, screaming to the redline and you can always tell when the honda drivers have arrived by their exhaust note.
vtec makes a honda fun, its styling makes it cool, and its reliability makes it popular, and its interior makes it elegant. Enough said.
thing with all that electrical stuff to warm ur coffee and wat not or the car can parallel park itself. its just more dumb shit u dont need that can break and cost more money in the long run along with making driving easier which in turn makes shitty drivers why u think indians suck so bad at drivin they got mercedes and shit that change fuckin lanes for them hahahaha idk
one thing i do dislike wen somebody puts a loud exhauston a tiny single cam motor with no vtec cuz that exhaust is actually robbing power.
yea i dont dislike them i was wondering what people liked about them other than the obvious reasons. i just dislike the standard tranny in them of the ones ive driven that is where u hav to shift so fast cause it seems u get to the redline and ur barely moving comparitively. like my dub will do 45-50 easy in just first gear if u really wanna get up on it, not that i do but it has been done. so i just like it for drivin in the city cause u barely need to shift.
That's why its called a luxury sports car Tim. Its not stuff that you NEED, but you'll enjoy having them anyway. We're only human and we're creatures of comfort. And they dont break down. I've never had problems with any of the euros I've had before. But then again they were bought in asia so they were built at different places from some other places. Like I said, I like both types of cars and they really serve to give different feels, so its just a matter of preference. And Grant, tall gears are for ease of driving. Shorter gears give better acceleration if you're good at shifting, but are a pain in a butt when driving on a daily basis.
youre right you dont need that stuff but who doesnt want it? i refuse to buy a car thats not fully loaded with all the little extras myself
i agree with the whole transmission thing.. but u call it comfort i call it gluttony
idk imo i think getting more speed out of each gear would mean the car would b faster over all (from a shifting stand point only) if u got a tranny u need to shift a say 15mph then again at 35mph Vs a tranny that will pull u up to 40mph w/o shifting ur better off. but thats just how it is in my mind.
i know wat your getting at. with hondas the gears have to be somewat shortened so when your racing and shift the car is still in the powerband. my car hits 40 in first gear its a gsr tho thats the only honda that has enough power to do that. 1st gear 40. 2nd 70 3rd 90 4th 120 5th 140

any parts needed for the car is low priced and affordable and depending how you treat a honda they take a good beating
its easy to upgrade and u can find parts every where and cheap engin swaps and cheap compared to other modles theri light whight and if u have the time and money u could have a 1500whp car with around $20000 in to it and have more power than a new mustang and other high end cars
