2003 Corrolla vs 2012 Camry

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

I need advice on what I should do. I currently drive a 2003 Toyota Corrolla with
about 160,000 miles. I have kept it well maintained and really has never given
me any trouble. Whenever I bring it into my mechanic he always says that this
car will last me forever. However, my mom just bought a new car and she is
willing to give me her 2012 Camry with 55,000 miles for free. I initially thought
a newer car would be better so I should go for the upgrade. However, my
brother who likes to play around with cars as a hobby says that my 2003
Toyota is a much better car and that I should keep my Corrolla (BTW, she
offered the Camry to him first and he refused so I know he isn't telling me this
because he secretly wants the car).

Toyota quit / reduced spending money on research and development 10 years ago.. so arguably their older models are "better" BUT a Camry with 55k miles vs a Corolla with 160k is a major upgrade. YOU have to decide.

You have a $2,000 car and your Mom wants to give you are car worth at lease 3x that. I would take the Camry and keep the Corolla as a back up car.
