Freightliner won't go over 45mpg

Asked by Rich3977 Jan 16, 2017 at 11:04 AM

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 01 freightliner car carrier with a cat
engine will not go over 45 mph. All gauges
and fluids are ok. Everything seems normal
except that it just will not go above 45 and
even slower in the hills. Engine sounds
good and Rpms are normal also. What
could cause this to happen?

I have a 2006 Peterbilt 335 C7 Acert 6 speed Allison trans, same symptoms won't go over 40 MPH randomly had engine code for loss of vehicle speed input. Only thing I've found to help is changing the fuel filter but then it happens again in an hour or so. Any suggestions?
