Timing

Tried to pop clutch because battery was
dead...was on slight hill let it roll backwards but put
it in 1st instead of reverse.Now it won't hardly idol.

My guess is that when you popped the clutch the engine turned backwards and the timing belt jumped a tooth or two. Pulling off the timing cover and rotating the engine until the marks line up should tell you if that is the problem. The repair would be new timing belt and tensioner. I would also replace the water pump while I had it apart because it lives with the timing belt. I would NOT try to re-time and use the existing belt as it may be damaged in a way that you can't see.
