'86 camaro need to give it a lot of gas of it to go. Revoutions are high, but car barely moves. it has no problem going in reverse.

i was giving this car by uncle after my old car got totaled by another car with no insurance. So i drove the car in N.J, and it felt ok. it has a replacement engine with approximately 4000 miles. after i picked up the car here L.A i drove it home. if felt so so. the more i drove it during the first and second day I felt that had to really press the gas for it to go. pulling from the parking lot in reverse is fine, but when shift to Drive the car does not move with the gear and i have to really give it gas with the revolutions reaching 4k rpm or more. then it drives with a lot of hesitation.

thank you for your reply joemom, but the car does not jolt when shifted to Drive. it just stays there and i have to give it a lot of gas for it to run. i was thinking may be dirty air filter and dirty intake system...

Transmission is shott. Sorry to tell you but go get a tranny. AND STOP DRIVING IT LIKE THAT. YOU WILL END UP NEEDING BOTH ENGINE AND TRANNY.

It's called slipping, and it's the worst thing for a trans. The damage is done and it will need a rebuild. Please stop driving the car like that
