c5 zo6 compared to c6 zo6

i'd say go for the new Gran Sport package, hell of a deal, it offers the wide body from the Z06 but has its own distinct shape, aswell the GS borrows the Z06 brakes and dry sump (also in the ZR1), and suspension, since the 2007 you are looking at is a few years old, i believe the GS does have interior tweaks, LCD/ Nav system being the biggest. the LS3 in it is also hand built beside the LS7, LS9, and LSA enigine (used in z06, zr1, and cts-v, respectively) though the Z06 does put out 505hp and Gran Sport 436hp, the GS will get you to 62mph in 3.9 seconds and it has a launch control (wont void the warranty either *GT-R cough cough**) GS does weigh about 180lbs over the Z06, and will cost you a bit more than the 2007 youre looking at from what i recall your C5 will produce about the same numbers (depending on exact year), so actual straight line performance gains wont be noticeable, around a track the GS might actually have the upper hand. but if you are down right set on either keeping the C5 or going up to the C6 Z06, i would say go for it, like i said depending on your year, you will get a 100hp bump

The Z06 is worth the difference in price. You receive the aluminum grand prix race car frame and carbon fiber package with more power. The car is more manageable and better handling with incredible power. I would take the Z06 over the ZR1 and GS model. The normally aspirated motor gives you far more options in the future...and it's a 427...what real vette's are meant to be!!!

Depends upon what you are looking for. If you spent the same amount of money on a low mileage C5 Z06 that you would on a low mileage C6 Z06, the C5 Z would leave it in the dust. Spend 25K on a < 30K C5 Z06, slap headers and a turbo on it, upgrade the suspension a little (does not require much in suspension upgrades), put on aftermarket brakes, replace the Goodyears with Michelin Pilot SS tires, and you are looking at an additional 10-15K. Total investment is between 35-40K and no $ 45- $ 50K C6 Z06 will touch it in a drag race or on a track. However, f you do not want a modded car, the the C6 Z06 would be worth it. Out of the box, it is not a fair contest. The C6 Z6 with 95 more HP and and 81 more cubes (not to mention torque) plus better handling and more modern electronics, wins. It depends upon what you are looking for. Both are great cars. I like the looks of the C5 Z06 better and the cockpit is roomier, but the C6 Z06 in stock trim, is hard to beat. Chunk money on top of the price and it is world beater.
