I just purchsed a 74 corvette, how can I tell if I have the L48 or L82 engine. Thanks

The L82 will have suffixes which start with "CL" such as CKZ, CLA, CLB, CLC, CLD, CLH, CLR, CLS. The LS4 has suffixes starting with "CW," including CWM, CWR, CWS, CWT. There was no L48 option available in 1974, just the L82 and LS4.

This also pertains you your VIN number 1Z37 Coupe or 67 for vert. Then "T"=L82, "J"=L48, "Z" LS7 454

Refer to the 5th character on your vin - “K” will be base engine and “J” will be L48 and “T” will be your L82
