It will appear to have both front and rear wheel drive. Meaning that it will have the traditional front wheel drive and an additional rear wheel drive drive-axle.

The drive-axles are visible from underneath the vehicle.

There will be a small sticker on the back window stating 4WD. Also a quick look underneath the rear for drive axles, like Dvigano stated.

If the badge has been removed, you can easily tell if you see a button inside that shows the car with slip lines below the tires, this button is to turn off the traction control. It is only available on 4WD models. Drive axles are also visible on the AWD model but not the traction control and are not totally helpful in distinguishing between the models as it will be present on both. Obviously the 2WD model will not have them.

Thanks for the information I am going to look at a 2008 crv super clean super cheap and it doesn't have the 4 wheel drive badges on the back hatch, never thought of looking for a drive line to the rear axle stupid me the other things were helpful too.

It's even easier to simply look for the propshaft which will run almost the full length of the car alongside the exhaust.
