Speakers not working when it rains

Asked by souheil Dec 01, 2020 at 03:45 PM about the 2008 Lexus IS 250 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car speakers make a loud "boom boom" when i turn on the radio and then no sound is coming out. This would only happen when it rained during summer but now that winter is coming the problem seems to be more frequent. The radio still turns on and seems to be working fine.

I would appreciate any clues you might have on this issue,

Thanks

Look at the door seals and vapor barrier. you will need to remove the inner door panel to inspect the barrier.

Sounds like an amplifier issue to me.

Its not a door seal issue. I have the same issue now. Its the amp that gets wet due to the vents in the rear bumper being faulty and their flaps breaking. They are there fro pressure release when closing the trunk from what I understand. They have to replaced or it has to be solved using another DIY method. I just found about this today. Im going to try some stuff tonight
