You can just be driving down the road and my 1991 lexis will shut off. after it

One possible cause is loose or dirty ground contacts. This can cause the exact problem you're having, as it has for me, especially with older cars...and it's not a comfortable situation to be in. In my situation, the ground contacts from the (-) battery post to the frame were heavily corroded and dirty. Disconnect it, give it a good scrub with a wire brush, use some battery grease where the cable contacts the metal and tighten it back to the frame. Free fix, and just good to check out anyway...could be all you need!

I HAD SAME PROBLEM DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, I CHANGED THE MAF SENSOR, HAD TO RUN THE CAR IN LOW TRAFFIC AREAS OR AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR HOURS, I READ SOMEWHERE THE CAR'S COMPUTER MEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BY DRIVING IT. I ALSO LET THE CAR DRIVE FORWARD WITHOUT STEPPIN THE ACCELERATOR FOR SEVERAL HOURS SO COMPUTER WOULD ADJUST TO MY DRIVING BEHAVIOR. I WOULD TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE FROM 10 TO 30 MILES A DAY, WOULD DRIVE THE CAR DOWN TOWN, TO MAKE SURE THE CAR'S COMPUTER GET'S IT RIGHT. AFTER APROX 3 WEEKS OF TAKING THE CAR FOR DRIVES I FINALLY FEEL CONFIDENT THE CAR WON’T SHUT DOWN. AND IT HASN’T.
