Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've replaced 3 torn shifter boots in my '64 Corvette and now no. 4 is torn. I
think they're too thin. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Get an upholstery shop to custom make one out of better material. Might want to check the transmission and engine mounts for excessive movements.

Yeah bud, it's tear not tare, would suggest that anything rubber down there is split and/or degraded~

My shifter is mounted to the frame and not the transmission so I don't think it's a motor or transmission mount issue. I do have headers so it's probably hotter than stock. I'm thinking that it's cheap material so I'll try to ensure the next one is better. Tear not tare. I should have known that. Thanks

If you're buying NOS boots the rubber is probably deteriorated from sitting for decades. My Mother used to call that "shop worn". Hope that helps! Jim
