My daughter is at college and her 2000 RX 300 Check Engine light is on, not blinking, but on solid. No change in performance. Should I be concerned until she comes home in a month?

I certainly wouldn't leave it. Usually it is an electrical gremlin BUT if the light stays illuminated even after being switched there is reason to be concerned as damage could be made, especially if it is a fuelling issue where damge to the Catalytic converter could occur costing hundreds of Pounds ( sorry Dollars if you are American). Get the car plugged into a diagnostic code reader A.S.A.P.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just the reminder to change your oil. Good chance that the reset switch wasn't pushed in during the last oil change. Check your manual.

A reminder for the oil change will not set a check engine light. It has a MAINT SOON light for when your engine oil needs to be changed. It could be something simple, it may be something more severe. Have someone (dealer, autozone) pull the code and access from there. Autozone will pull it for free
