Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a check engine light &
diagnostocs says its a knock
sensor. Car was driving fine but
today after putting fuel in when i
stopped at red light it jerked n felt
like something was wrong
underneath. It did it again as i
picked up speed then at each light
I had to stop at. I also heard a
winding out ( only way i can
describe it sorry I'm older disabled
lady that doesn't know
much)noise as i took off. Could it
be the knock sensor or
transmission? Ive not had the car
6 months & already spent $1,000
in repairs for welding, plug, &
sensors bc it wouldn't pass
emissions & wouldn't let me get
over 45mph. Im on a fixed income
& still make payments so
hopefully its an easy fix & nothing
major

Ouch, sounds like you got a real lemon. Whining noises can be transmission related, especially if the front pump shaft is going. It could also be a torque converter. Only way to know for sure is have it diagnosed at a transmission shop. Most shops aren't equipped to deal with transmissions, so try to find one that specializes in them. Ask your current mechanic or Google "transmission shops near me." Has the knock sensor been replaced yet? If not, have that done, then see if problem persists.
