battery cables 60,000 miles on a 2013

Asked by GuruBW4RV Dec 15, 2018 at 10:38 AM about the 2013 Lexus RX 350 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How often should battery cables need to be replaced.  I had technician call me
that my cables are corroded and needed to be replaced.  I only have 60,000
miles on a 2013.  Then less than 30 days the car left me stranded.  We found
the newly installed cables were not tight.  hmmm.  Just wondering if they really
needed a replacement or if I just got "up sold" from the dealer?

My thoughts are that you got upsold. I don’t believe I have ever changed a cable on any make vehicle inside of 10 years. Many are in the 17 year and older range. Stealerships wonder why we are getting smarter and doing our own work.
