I want to find my dads corvette that his widow sold in mid 1990's

My dad collected cars and on his deathbed he said he would give me his '72 vette but it wasn't witnessed and his brain tumor arguably meant he wasn't of sound mind.  His widow (my step-mother) sold the car a few years later.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could locate the current owner of the car.  I don't have the vin, but he bought it new (maybe out of a lease) and I'm very familiar with the car.

The local department of motor vehicles, may be able to tell you when it was sold and if it has been licensed. Try looking for local Corvette clubs and Corvette garages in the area. Local Corvette websights with chat rooms can help , if you give them a description of the car.Every Little Detail, leave out nothing.A window sticker or decal under the hood. Good luck with your search. Try C3 Corvette Owners Association.

Maybe your stepmom could tell you who she sold it to. Could be she would remember if she sold it to someone in town or where the buyer lived. Any way, the person who bought it had to have registered it shortly thereafter. If you know the city where the buyer lived, see if you could check the registrations of that registration year for that particular car. 1972 vette, wouldn't be many being registered. Wish you well my friend.
