corvette overheating

Question type: General
1988 corvette.. my car heat reached its peak a couple
times with me driving it a short distance to I stopped
it.. I got the water pump fixed a week ago and since
I've gotten the car back it's missing until it gets revved
up a bit higher I went out this morning and tried to
start it and it feels like it's running on 4 cylinders and
there's a lot of white smoke coming out of the back.. I
looked at the dipstick and there appears to be no
mixture of coolant with the oil..

Your head gasket is blown if your cylinder head is cracked then you see the oil and water mixture that looks like a beige color that means that your head is cracked if you only see oil that means that the only thing that is burned is your head gasket

Milky milkshake, chocolate milk? Sounds like when it over heated a head gasket blew, do a compression test to test, if you have duals and only one side blows steam then you know which side blew or if both did, but I would replace both sides anyway. Replace spark plugs too and since heads are off have them pressure tested to confirm no cracks before reusing and if no cracks check for warp and if no warp rebuild and re-surface those heads and use new head bolts. Intake gasket could be gone but its worth replacing the head gasket just in-case since it ran hot enough to start this. If heads are warped do not re-use them buy new heads or find used heads that do pass the warp test and are not warped, warped heads will always blow head gasket again, re-surfacing pre-pairs the surface for new gasket yes but re-surfacing the bottom mating surface of the head does not take the warp out of the whole head, which is done when a head warps it warps threw and threw not just on bottom.
Well I guess it's time for a bottle of block seal

Do not use the off the shelf cures in a bottle they will clog up the cooling system rendering the useless. Use Na40 Sodium Silacate bought online from a drug store or ebay.

Below is another cargurus page explaining the correct process the glass a engine without killing it failing have it work so this is a must to know how to do so and its a lot of reading but well worth it, if you have any questions ask. The url below just copy & paste to new browser window.

The block seal at stores is not good at all. I know what does work. It an art few know how to do. This is not sold in person at any store/ use to be sold at drug stores years ago, not any more. There are a few other grade to choose from but the Na 40 is the grade you want, the others will fail to work well if work at all. You will need to drain every thing put on new oil filter and fill back with oil top it back off, as the milky stuff will stop any from working and bad on your main bearings, just leave the cooling system dry until the process begins, never use any glass or block seal on a hot engine.

It works for sure *na 40* My 89 Honda CRX warped heads every year. I finally did it with glass and sold it seven years later after that day and it never blew a head gasket again nor ran hot or had any issue from it. I have seen it seal cracks in blocks with water running out at the time and done correctly will not clog a engine up or damage the internals or your radiator. It actually protects parts & your water pump. Of course take your thermostat out before doing it, and if you have a old radiator around use it. Main thing it undo all radiator hoses and drain while hot all coolant with engine running to get all water out turn engine off before it runs hot and let air dry for a few days or longer in cooler regions or cold weather may take a week or so but it has to air cure to work for ever, it will work for a few years or months maybe if the air cure is not done but may not work but a few days so let it air dry.
coolant look ok? no loss of coolant? all tests well: if it is rough idle, fix the ignition module & coil ...maybe one or two modules are out. i had a problem almost like that .
