Which engine?

Asked by daveasanders Apr 20, 2007 at 06:47 PM about the 1954 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was told that the Blue Flame is to heavy and since we are doing a restoration,, we should put in a 283. Is it true that the brakes and steering can't handle the weight of the Blue Flame?

The 1954 Corvette came with the Blue Flame engine, so if you're doing an accurate restoration, you'll want that engine, daveasanders. But most folks find that engine's performance and the '54 'vette's relatively poor braking performance a lot less than ideal, so if you'd like to create a even-better-than-original '54, you may want to think about something else. Hope that helps!
