Not getting fuel to the injectors

Asked by ldp2366 Aug 03, 2009 at 07:30 AM about the 1995 Ford Thunderbird LX RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car has set for several years, and not been started for about 2 years.  Everything seems to be functioning O.K., just not getting fuel pressure.  I have had the line opened at the injector fuel rails and at the filter, nothing when turned on.  I just can't hear if the pump is doing anything.  I'm just wondering what else to check before I go through the challenge of changing the fuel pump.  Possibly relays, or ???  I have checked the fuel kill switch in the truck, seems to be O.K.

Since the car has been sitting the fuel pump is almost surely gummed up, try beating on the gas tank just for a temporary fix sometimes that will knock the impellers loose and work but would reccomend replacing even if it works.
