Toyota Avalon 2006 won't move

I was driving in the highway and I had to stop and
shift the gear to reverse and drive it a little bit
then I stopped and it went off itself I don't know
why. Then I turned it back on but the car does not
move in any direction I don't even hear the gear
when switching from P to either  R , N , D
The gear just shift between P and N with no sound
of switching
