The serpentine belt drives your alternator, power-steering, AC compressor, and water pump. Probably showed signs of wear. And Yes they all have a serpentine belt.
If it was the original belt then it was ten years old and replacing it was a good thing.
My water pump was replaced and the serpentine belt was also. I don't know why.
