is there ever a ford windstar without any problems?
Asked by Joshua Dec 13, 2008 at 06:24 PM about the 1995 Ford Windstar 3 Dr LX Passenger Van (1995.5)
Question type: General
every time a windstar owner talks to me, all I hear is negative "blaw, blaw, blaw". is there anything positive
about this Minivan?
The thing that I know about these vans is that they practically self distruct when the warranty expires. Why does
it do that?
thanx for listening to me rambling on and on and on. merry christmas and drive safe

It's that blue badge on the front, that's the problem
ha ha ha ha ha......that was actually a funny one aside from others about ford. so if I was to take off the badge, the problems would go away? ( Just kidding with you )
Really late here but its 2018 and I have a 03 Windstar with 264,00 mile and passes inspection with flying colors. Runs like new and, besides some body rust, the underneath is in really good shape. Things have been replaced through the years but no motor or transmission or any electrical so far. just stuff that you'd expect with age. Rot on drive rear quarter but its 18 years old now. For the year it is in real good shape. It did suffer the front frame rot they all got but this one had just started and never went beyond that and it has had the new rear end put in it a bit ago for piece of mind as you cant see in them and I live in NY. If you didn't get one you were probably better off I got one of the good one but it rare with these vans. BUT it was a good one to report. Forgot to mention that I've had a tree has fall on it to so had to replace the windshield, hood from a junkyard and straighten up the radiator frame. If you look good at the passenger head light you can barley see it isn't completely like new. Did all the work myself but don't own fancy equipment. Thought the van was totaled but thought I could fix it and I did except I let safelite do the windshield. When I find a PIC of it when we got the tree of I will post below. WOW... this is long. Me,...: I hate Fords (A GM guy) but I love my Windstar. It's been a great dependable van. Don't know how many others can say that though.
I currently have the exact 1995 LX, I'm the third owner and had it since 2016. It's currently at 280,000 miles and still runs well besides some passenger axel issues, had to replace the control arm twice but no major issues besides that. I'm surprised it's still running, I don't see why it gets a bad reputation. Its been dependable so far and I've driven it just about every day since I got it.
Love my windstar. It has performed well for my large family, 2 drivers, for 14 years. Had I maintained it better, I would probably not have had to deal with engine or transmission issues. As it is, still runs strong.
