Eliminate bait cars!!

I often see vehicles that don't really exist. You ask the dealership about it,
and it "just sold" or it's a "demo" model.
One clue is how long it has been listed. Any popular vehicle that lasts more
than a month at a dealer is not likely real, and many of the ones I have seen
have supposedly been listed for 2 or more YEARS: these are not real and
should be forced to be taken down.

Cargurus used to have an expiration date on their ads, at least for private sellers. If I remember correctly it was 45 days. It's been a while since I sold a vehicle here so that might have changed. My 94 Fleetwood had been advertised for 10 months before I bought it. It was a limousine so there probably wasn't a lot of people interested in it. But the car was real and I bought it. I think it depends on the vehicle. If it's not a popular model or it's overpriced it's not going to sell quickly. But you have a valid point. If the vehicle has been advertised for a long time, be suspicious of it and don't be surprised if it sold and the Dealer hasn't removed the ad. Jim
