BMW E46 330i 2003 model

I have a 2003 BMW automatic transmission, when I put it in
drive gear it does not go forward, but it does reverse so
what could be wrong?

Sometimes this is caused by a weak battery as the shifting is controlled electronically. If the battery checks out, then I would say it's the transmission might be low, or you need a rebuild.
