I have a 94 Ford Explorer that will start when it is cold. I can drove just a short distance and then it will not start again until it cools off completely.

Sounds like the Ignition Control Module. When they start to go bad the engine heat will affect them causing a no start condition, until it cools down. That can be taken out and tested at an auto parts store.

I have the same prob with my 96 explorer! Hope this is the answer/fix I've been looking for.

Sentra, then have the ICM tested at your local auto parts store.

I had the ICM tested and it's good. Anymore suggestions?

Coil could have a crack.That can be tested also.

Friend of mine said his friend had the same prob with his ford, turned out to be short in ignition in steering column.

It wasn't the ignition coil, I just had that replaced. I'm going to take my car back into my mechanic tomorrow. I will mention the short in the steering column. He mentioned the TPS???

Not sure what tps is....a sensor?

Throttle Positioning Sensor. TPS.

Update: I replaced the battery, it has started every time for the last couple weeks. I really did not think that would be the issue because it was turning over. My mechanic said maybe just not enough power for the fuel injection. I don't understand it but it worked. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for all the input.
