Question type: Car Customization

I own 94 Ford Mustang convertible basic 3.8l.
232 cu.in. 6 speed auto trans engine and trans
have less than 400 miles on them when I found
a serious problem under the car where
replacing was the best option I was staying
between 94-98 model years I'm not sure about
94-04  my goal is to stick everything in the
replacement car yet I did not know if a GT wiring
would be the same or I should stick to trying to
locate a basic convertible between 94-98 I didn't
know if 99-04 would interchange everything on
my car is immaculate except the undercarriage
but I didn't know if I could use a GT to put the
engine in without major electrical surgery I
thought perhaps by reaching out to those of you
here you might be able to help me I just wanted
as an everyday car so my first question would
be the electrical are they basically the same I
know that in some instances you can take the
engine wiring out with the engine to cut down on
time I just can't seem to find the answers I know
this is strange but there's not one YouTube
video on removing A v8 and installing a v6 of
course this isn't the norm but at least I would've
thought somebody would've done it right now I
could use all the help I can get I've been
searching your sites for used car and the others
I wish I knew  if the GT electrical was the same
or not it would make searching a little easier so
right now I'm just sticking to 94-98I've searched
all over YouTube I've searched the Internet the
norm of course is to take out a smaller engine
and put in a larger one this in fact is what I did
to my 86 Cutlass the V6 was removed and I
installed a three-quarter cam 455 electric
kickdown trance with stall and B&M shift kit etc.
etc. yes this is the norm so let me pose a
question search the Internet search YouTube
search everywhere and locate someone
removing a V8 and installing a V6 3.8 L 232 CU.
IN. Engine my problem right now is trying to find
out information regarding 94-98 or 94-04 I own
a 94 3.8 convertible Mustang the engine and
trans has less than 400 miles on them and
numerous other new parts when I found the
problem so I'm trying to find a replacement to
put everything in I can't find the information
regarding GTs and their electrical system (are
they the same) or can the engine electrical be
removed and interchanged with a GT I do not
want to get into major surgery I have other
projects this is just my everyday car but I don't
know if the basic electrical is the same as the
GT electrical or should I just stick to searching
for a basic 3.8 convertible you know the old
saying in for a penny in for a pound I just got too
much invested to call it quits but I just can't find
the answers necessary to make this easier I've
even tried calling several Ford dealerships they
refer me to local junkyards explaining they do a
lot of engine swapping this is almost as bad as
when Oldsmobile created the diesel and within
one year of ownership people wanted us to put
gas engines back in I guess the point of my
rambling is everybody and their brother has a
YouTube video on removing a V6 and installing
a V8 engine
I can't find anywhere where someone has taken
out a V-8 and installed a V-6 take a look you will
not be able to find one because it's just not the
norm so I'm keeping my search to the 94-98
convertible basic but does anyone out there
have any idea about the GT electrical?

1994 is OBD I. 1996 and newer is OBD II. They're completely different computer control systems and are not compatible with each other at all. Sorry! Jim

JS is right, find a donor 94 or 95 V6 Mustang and swap the parts over. You said your drivetrain is almost new, so roll with it. It will be easier to find the V6 or base vehicles than a GT anyhow and also easier to find a vert vs a hatch or coupe since drivers didn't modify the heavier verts. Good luck on your swap. Check out sites like LWR and CJponyparts for parts.

Thanks for the advice I think I found a donor I just have to get there you see what I found was driver's-side rear axle lower control arm to frame was rusting away so I thought it would be better to find another vehicle and swap everything over primary goals engine and transmission, ragtop, struts and shocks, body parts weren't really a big concern it's just not wanting to throw away the money spent on rebuilding the engine & transmission I had read somewhere that red interior was extremely hard to find and that's exactly what I have it is also in immaculate shape I found a donor on Craigslist on 5/29 I don't know how honest the person is considering the pictures I saw and what the owner had claimed but we'll see how it goes and I hope everything works out and my search goes on again thank you all for your input and information I just don't want to have to do major electrical surgery so I'll stick to the V6 basic search thanks a lot
