Sounds like a firing issue, have you replaced plugs lately?
Hi, I agree with T_S_T. Expanding on what he said, Check wires, cap/rotor, and plugs. Do a computer diagnostic. Van engines are a PAIN to work on. Ignition included!! Ignition is NOT the time/place to scrimp! No, no, no. Recently had a bad ignition miss-ss-ss. Fixed it with BOSCH Iridium/Platinum +4 plugs, MSD wires, and an Airtex Rotor And Distributor Cap Kit. BRASS contacts!! The cherry on top. ;) While I bought the best I could get. I did shop around. Bought this stuff through Amazon.com (this time). All things considered I didn't spend that much. Again, shop around. 8-) Aim small, miss small.

I've had two vans 99 and 2001 did same thing. Mechanics got hundreds of dollars without figuring out the problem. Replaced all ignition components still when rained dead. Could get it started on warm to hot days ran great. Any humid days nothing turn over and sputter a few times bit no start. Finally discovered on my own that the whole time it was the throttle position sensor. $30 part never had an issue again infact motor ran better than than it ever has. This will! Not! Show up on any computer. Happens around 120k to 150k now ran 300,000 on both vehicle still going strong. Amazing how many mechanics can't think outside the box with or without a computer. Psssfft!
