No room to compress spring clips and hold them

Remove a stud and use the hole as access for your screw driver . Compress spring with screwdriver turn pin into locking position. Would be very easy if you could get your hand in there. It may take multiple attempts so be patient .( unlike me)

There should be a hole in the stud plate for access to the spring clips. How did you get the old ones out?

There is no hole on axle flange for access . I removed a stud and used that hole for access. It is not a friendly design. PITA but I'm sure I will never have to do it again. Multiple attempts and wear safety glasses as spring clip could fly out from under screwdriver.

When I disassembled old brake hardware I broke clips off. I always replace hardware with new for the few dollars it costs it is well worth it.
