How much above the listed price will I pay for a vehicle?

Asked by Stephen Feb 03, 2024 at 10:57 AM about the 2024 Kia Soul LX FWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

For example, a 2024 kia soul might be listed for 25k. You will not walk away
from a dealer for anything less than 33k for that car. In addition to unavoidable
taxes (~13% ON), there are mandatory packages, admin & freight costs added
to the invoice. Can cargurus make this a better experience by forcing listings to
actually represent what consumer will pay?

If a dealer is still pulling this stuff then walk away. Don’t even look at KIA.

In today's world of internet shopping the final price might be hard to pin down. Mostly because of the sales tax. If the vehicle is in Kansas, for example, and you live in Kentucky, the sales tax will be different than if you live in, say, Florida. You pay sales tax to your home State. So if you buy out of State the final out the door price will be different depending on where you live. Hope that helps! Jim
