Get a helper. Helper pushes brake pedal while you open bleeder valve behind caliper or drum backing plate..whatever it is. Open valve nipple and close BEFORE PEDAL REACHES FLOOR. Helper must shout "CLOSE" or put a piece of wood or something under pedal. (Courtesy -Bob- his idea and an excellent one at that) Keep master cylinder topped off at all times. You must do all four..not just rear. best is put a hose in a jar with brake fluid in it and attach to bleeder valve.
That was a crash course. Or maybe anti-crash...if brakes fail. It is IMPERATIVE that master cylinder remains topped off, and IMPERATIVE that pedal never bottoms out during process.
Thank you just what I was looking for ..placing the wood under the pedal...Thnx much
