Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car turns off but it will not release my key. I'm
very confused as to why.  I tried moving the wheel
and key at the same time and I also drove it. I
cannot get it out..... and my door doesn't lock
because the key is in the ignition. HELP!!!!!

There is wires under the shifting knob down the shaft if the wire is broken or disconnected the key will not come out. This is a wiring issue. The key and ignition does not need to be replaced. remove your center console and you will see it.

I’m having the same problem with a 2006. What’s the best thing to do? Is there a recall we can take back to Chevy?

Mine key will not come out of the ignition and then it just dead! No Lights nothing like it has no battery. The Battery is Good. Then a Hour or a Day later you open the door and there is life. Door opening sounds the car Starts and you can take the key out! It's in the Shop but, They can't find anything wrong with it.
