how many 1997 monte carlo LS cars are still running in north america

Well considering it is a General Motors product; probably 60% have a blown 3.1 or 3.8, slipping trans, and rust holes bigger than a basket ball and the other 39.9% have the same oil pan leak that they had when they drove off the lot and the .1% are in mint condition waiting to be come classics. Using numbers we can understand; roughly 10000 through out the states are probably in a running condition. I actually saw one at the compact demo derby last year.

Well when you work on GM products almost everyday for the same thing you find that they have a few more reoccurring problems than most auto manufactures. I used to be a GM guy when I had my 85' Monte then I bought a 87' Bronco II and I have been a Ford man since. Everyone has their perspectives on every vehicle manufacture, not hating on anyone just sharing what I know, hear, and see.
