Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking to replace my transmission in my 1999
Chevy Monte Carlo and was wondering if I could
use one from a 98 or if anything has changed
between those years

Replacing an old worn tranny with an old worn tranny doesn't make sense , it's usually best to go with what the car was designed for , , if the car is rusted out you may as well get something newer . If you really like the car then have the tranny rebuilt or go with a crate tranny .

It not a year thing but a numbers thing, if the numbers match then it will work, if they don’t then it won’t.
