What could make a car to overheat?

Asked by Jmiller87 Feb 09, 2016 at 11:18 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo is having overheating issues. There is not heat when you turn the heater on. Ive replaced the water pump, thermostat, and radiator. Ive flushed the system out a couple times.I then took it for a test drive no sooner then 8 mins into the drive it started to overheat again. There is not a visible leak on the ground, but the coolant does get low. I checked the oil and there is no change to the oil level or color.

Depending on which engine you have there may be a bleeder screw or two on the coolant pipes. It would also help if you could use a spill free funnel kit. What happens sometimes when you fill the coolant an air bubble gets pushed in the engine and is trapped there.
