Check for full voltage at the electrical connection. What is/was the wattage of the bulb the burnt the harness? GM products use wires and connectors rated for a 65 watt bulb. Drop a 100 watt bulb in there and you start burning things up. If you don't have full volts at the bulbs, start chasing the wires back to the source and look for damage.

When i had dim head lights. It turned out to be some dirt/corrosion in the female side of the connector and it was not plugging in all the way. cleaned up the connector and made sure to firmly plug it in and it worked.
