99 chevy silverado 5.3 engine
motor will rev up high and then will almost die and it will do this only when you start it for
the first time when its cold out .we have tested egr valve is good,cleaned mass air flow
sensor,replaced idle air sensor and it still does it and ideas?air filter is new
it could be a few things. 1) is you check engine light on? if so what are the codes? 2) check your fuel pressure. it should be 55-58psi with key in the on position but engine off. these truck are notorious for fuel pumps going out. when you turn you key to the on position can you hear the fuel pump kick on? 3) check for intake manifold leaks. also a common problem with this truck. with your motor running, spray some intake cleaner($1.97 at walmart) around the intake area of the engine. IN SHORT BURSTS OF SPRAY!!! if your engine revs after you spray around you have a leak.
