99 silverado intermittent dash lights

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 99 silverado 2wd with 131k. Couple months ago the battery, security,
abs lights would flash intermittently along with the fuel gauge dropping to
empty and the shift light turning off. It doesnt do it every time. and not all at
once. Today the BRAKE light started flashing for the first time with the DING
DING DING DING in my ear all the way to work. I have started watching
videos about what could be the problem. if anyone has had the same issue
and could chime in i would appreciate it. Thanks

I have seen crazy things happen to these rigs when the power distribution box looses connections or the connections become intermittent. Also grounding issues are very common.
The gas gauge dropping to empty is the real clue. When you have a bad instrument cluster ground the gas gauge will drop to empty and other lights will glow as they're providing a different path for the circuit to be complete. If you have an aftermarket stereo, check the grounds for that first. Hope that helps! Jim
Thanks guys for the help. The codes it has are U1064 lost comm. with body multiple control system, U1016 lost comm with ECM, U1041 lost comm with ECBM,
i tightened up the ground underneath the driver side door. It was loose but didn't solve any problems.
That one is a common ground issue. But there are a lot of others that need checked and cleaned. You also have codes indicating other wiring and power issues. Best to get a good manual and start tracking circuits.
