Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have tried to find a 4.10 rear end for a 1999 Chevy 1500 Silverado without
much luck. There seems to be a lot of 4.10 rear ends for the 2500 Silverado
available. Can I put the 2500 rear end on the 1500. The vehicle is four wheel
drive.

You can but the only problems are that 2500 axles are usually 8 bolt pattern for the rims where yours are 6. Also in 4x4 you need the same gear ratios for both axles if you have a 3.73 or a 3.42 gear ratio in your front and a 4.10 in the rear you will blow your to case to pieces 4x4 needs to be in perfect sync. Same size tires same gear ratio front and back no way around it
