Low oil pressure

Asked by Guru97TW7 Jul 26, 2017 at 01:05 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Extended Cab RWD

Question type: General

I have 260,210 miles on my 2000 silverado,  its the
best vehicle I have ever had.   Hadn't changed
much on it.  I got it up to 260°  7 or 8 times,  ive ran
it completely out of oil it only turned itself off.  Ive
never been easy on it,  and I carry a lot of weight
on it.  Had oil changed by mechanic shop,  they
said  stop using 5w30 and use 20w50.  It lasted 20
minutes oil pressure back to zero,  if the filter
behind sending unit gets clogged ,  will that
prevent oil from reaching the top of the engine?

With all that abuse you are lucky the engine runs at all. Time for a new engine.
