How did the wire get frayed? Can you put protective wire loom or tape over the damaged area?

I have the same problem, seems like you can back the plastic wire housing out, thread it back in and reinstall. Otherwise it seems serviceable with screws instead of rivets. Motor works just fine but the cable was damaged when it came off the track somehow
