I just went through this with my 07 Silverado, most likely moisture got into the socket as it did in mine. It rusted the contacts to the point of not being repaired. I found replacements on Amazon for $22 each, also the lens housings were broken, I got a pair of those with LED lights for under $12, yes a pair. I went to my favorite shop and they had the lights replaced in under 10 minuets for about $28. This was much cheaper then buying them from the same shop and 4 others I checked on which would have charged $45 for each socket, $10 for each lens and $14 for each LED light. The reason I had them install the lights is that I have had bad luck with electrical wiring and something always goes wrong, which with these lights if they get hooked up wrong it can cause damage and more repairs or so I'm told. Basically, buy two new sockets and have them replaced, the expense is fairly low and I say replace them both, if you don't you'll have my luck and replace one and a week later the other goes out then you end up paying the $28 twice rather than once, otherwise if you know what your doing and replace it yourself, (your a better man than me) the just replace as needed. I should mention, (I got off with a warning), don't drive around at night without both lights! You could get a ticket!
