Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My steering gearbox was going bad so I got another one to
replace it. Now all of a sudden the steering shaft is attached
to steering wheel sits down further than the steering box. For
some reason all of a sudden and steering box I got is a
replacement. Is the same exact one? Same exact length?

The shaft slides into column sometimes you need to use some pb blaster to get the shaft to slide up. Make sure steering and wheels are straight or you WILL break ("clockspring") for airbag and horn and radio controls if equipped. Hope that helps. Ps some of the play in wheel is in the steering column where the two sections meet.
