Shift into drive hard

Hello I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 I
start it up and shift it drive and it’s like it slams
into gear making a loud like metal sound
slamming can anyone tell me what that could
be?

Is the transmission fluid level and clarity fine? That's the first thing I would check.

    My wife's truck is shifting hard going from a stop once or shits the truck runs fine and when she is at a stop the acts like she is tapping the gas pedal but her foot is firmly on the break.
