Hi
I had question I have a 03 Silverado
5.3l and I'm having transmission
problem it won't shift to 3rd and high
rpms that was today, yesterday it
was changing to all shifts only
problem was it was with high rpm
and it said transmission hot then I
stop let it cool down then I took off
again and it was running good for
about 15 min and then it started to
go slow I was going 70mph and I
could only go around 50 and I stop
and checked trans fluid and there
was a little of fluid in it I put two
bottles of trans fluid and took off and
I could only go 50mph or less today I
went to a guy that fixes trans and
told me it doesn't go to over drive
and he has to rebuild the whole
transmission is it true ?

Thanks tom for the info And I appreciate your help and my truck has 203k miles
It also could be a electrical problem. my 94 W/T would not shift also turns out there is a computer that tells the transmission when to shift look at that before you spend $1800.00 on a new tranny. forget a rebuild.
Check the color and smell of your fluid. a dark(almost black) indicates a burnt out 3-4 clutch pack. A red and oil smell would indicate an electronic issue.

Possible shift solenoid,or valve body plunger sticking or stuck
My chevy 2004 with automatic transmission just don't change the gears just because the computer don't receive the signal can you help me please
Buy a Ford, I have a six speed in my 2008 Denali, the transmission has been rebuilt 4 times since June of 18, same problems Tac over revs, kicks a code and goes into limp mode. New ECM and TCM and torkconvereter. GM transmissions SUCK
I had a 2003 Chevy Silverado with the 4 speed electronic shifting transmission. It was bought new and had the standard 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. At 38,000, it started to have occasional lappes in shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I attribute the problem to GM taking the lowest bid from their OEM's for the tranny parts, that would just get the truck to over the warranty period. I had 5 other GM/Chevy trucks over the past 25 years with no tranny problems. But, they all had the mechanical shifting method. I did the fluid and filter change ahead of schedule and never abused the vehicle. It seems as though most all these truck mfgers. can't or won't put in the durable parts that would allow for comparable previous performance. I guess you have to buy a 2002 or earlier GM/Chevy and put up with the higher mileage or rust. You can spend 2-3,000 for an extended warranty, but should you have to when the US truck sellers get the protection of a 25% tariff on foreign imported trucks. You,d think there would be enought money to spend a couple hundred extra for good, durable parts. I am done buying any US PU. Ford has the 2011-13 problem of their trannys down shifting from 6th gear to 1st-can you spell trashed at 65 mph.
What was the problem? And how you fix it?
We r having the same problem 04 chevy 5.7L wont shift from 2nd to 3rd. We had a tire blow out and rip the wiring harness loose, so it may have sum thing to do with that. I agree with the man that said buy a ford that's what I said before we bought this hunk of junk!
I have an 04 Chevy 1500 four-wheel drive I started up shifts and drives fine for about 50 ft lose all my gears shut the truck down for about a minute or two start it back up and I can drive another 50 feet till it happens again is this as simple as just adding fluid I was also told it could be a clutch pack
What was the issue? Mine is doing the same thing
