2003 chevy pu windshield wiper multi switch

I replaced a windshield wiper multi switch on my 2003 chevy PU with a new AC delco replacement switch. After one week the same problem reaccured. The windshield wipers once turned on, would not shut off. All other functions, cruise control, headlight bright/dim switch, and turn signals worked fine. Any thoughts about this problem? Thanks

Sometimes that indicates an inadequate ground for the wipers motor itself.
