Soft brake peddle

Asked by Aaron Feb 11, 2019 at 10:55 PM about the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The brake peddle went to the floor while driving. I
knew I had a bad front right bearing, so I replaced it
and the abs wire. Also replaced front rotors and
calipers. Bled the lines still no peddle. Replaced
the master cylinder, bench bled and bled from the
cylinder to the calipers, still no peddle. Replaced
brake booster still no peddle. Put the old master
cylinder back on, still no peddle. I have good
suction from the motor to the black canister
attached to the booster. What am I missing?

How are the rear brakes? If they're worn out or out of adjustment the pedal will be soft, if all that is OK you may have air in the ebcm and the best fix for that is a power bleeder. It uses air pressure to push the fluid out.

The new MC should be bench bled, otherwise it will still have air trapped in it. The ABS block may require a special tool to bleed properly. If new MC wasn't bench bled, you may have pumped air into the ABS block and now it's trapped there. Also check the condition of the brake hoses (the flex lines) if they're bad they can not only trap fluid but air.
